House to Consider Local Fiscal Flexibility Bills

The House tomorrow will consider HBs 5550-5554, which deal with bond refinancing. These bills amend various acts to allow locals to refinance certain nonvoted bonds in order to avoid potential problems with reduced revenues in the down economy and are identical to bills introduced last session. The League worked closly with the bill sponsors and Committee Chair on this legisaltion, and League President Jeff Jenks (Mayor Pro Tem, Huntington Woods) testified in support of these bills when they passed committee on January 21st. Similar bills overwhelmingly passed the House last session.
