Yesterday the House Energy & Technology Committee took testimony on HB 4265 and 4266, bills that would lift the yard waste ban exemption for specific landfills that meet the criteria for a landfill energy production facility. The criteria are listed in the legislation.

The League has several members (including Midland and Riverview) who have municipal landfills and would like to take advantage of this technology. This would also be an option for communities who have private landfills with the production facilities in their communities.

The League is supporting this legislation and will be testifying at next week's hearing.
