This afternoon the House Labor Committee heard testimony on SBs 1085 and 1086, bills that amend the Urban Cooperation Act and Intergovernmental Transfers and Responsibilities Act.
The bills as they passed the Senate did not remove barriers for local cooperation. The League testified along with the City of Grand Rapids that additional changes are necessary to remove these barriers and encourage local cooperation.
The committee did not vote on the bills, but the chair indicated that he will vote next week.
