This afternoon the House Oversight, Reform and Ethics Committee heard testimony on several health care reform bills: SB 7 and HB 4572.

SB 7 would mandate an 80/20 health care premium share; however, there is an opt out for local units of government with a 2/3 vote of the governing body.

HB 4572 is a hard cap bill. It caps the amount a public employer may pay on annual premiums at $5,000 for a single person, $10,000 for 2-person coverage and $13,000 for family coverage. There is no opt out provision.

The committee will continue hearing testimony this week and next.
