Today at 10:30am the House General Government subcommittee of Appropriations is taking up HB 5880, which is the budget for FY 2010-11 that includes revenue sharing. While we have not seen the final draft of the bill yet, the League met with the Chair of the committee yesterday who indicated that he will propose a 3% cut to statutory revenue sharing - and the cut will be calculated as an across the board cut of 1.25% to each community based on their combined Constitutional and Statutory revenue sharing payments for the current fiscal year. The bill is expected to be voted on today and will then head to the full House appropriations commitee in the next several weeks. We oppose any cuts to revenue sharing and will be pushing to make our case as this process moves forward. This budget is one of the first to see any movement and we expect this process to take several more months before it approaches completion.
