Today the House Energy & Technology Committee unanimously reported HB 4247, a bill that is identical to SB 190 creating a dispute resolution process at the MPSC for cable disputes.  At first the hearing sounded just like the Senate one (prompting someone to ask me if this was Groundhog Day).  Unlike the Senate committee, who decided to take its time in reviewing proposed amendments, the House Committee reported the bill immediately.  Despite that, this afternoon I met with representatives from the MPSC, legislative staff and some other lobbyists to discuss our proposed amendments that would make HB 4247/SB 190 more favorable for communities.  The meeting went very well, and I am thankful that everyone came to the table with open minds and a willingness to work out differences. I don't know if our amendments will be added to these bills, but I am confident that the MPSC understands our concerns and will make the best decision for local units of government and consumers.
