On Wednesday the House Regulatory Reform Committee reported HB 4293, a bill that would legalize aerial fireworks. This legislation (or variations thereof) has been around for about five years.

The current version of the bill is similar to what passed the House last session.

The bill does prohibit local units of government from banning the sale of fireworks in buildings that meet certain specifications. However it requires a local unit of government to opt into tent sales by passing an ordinance allowing tent sales in the community.

The bill will now be considered on the House floor in the coming weeks.
