Yesterday the House DeLEG appropriations subcommittee voted to cute fire protection grants by 22 percent or $2.4 million.

The bill originally eliminated all of the $10.9 million funding, but Rep. Pscholka (R-Stevensville) offered an amendment to restore the $8.5 million that funds fire protection grants through driver responsibility fees.

The bill proposes shifting the additional $2.4 million to fund the Bureau of Fire Services.
