Reports out of Washington indicate the administration will release detailed proposals for a surface transportation reauthorization bill and national infrastructure bank with the Fiscal Year 2012 budget in February 2011.  The comments were made by USDOT Undersecretary Roy Kienitz following his recent testimony before the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee.

You will recall that President Obama recently announced a $50 billion infrastructure plan to invest in in highway, bridge, transit, high-speed rail, and aviation that would be added to the first year of a six-year surface transportation reauthorization bill.

The current funding bill, "SAFETEA-LU", expired September 30, 2009. Congress has been authorizing extensions, the most recent one expires December 31, 2010.
