The battle between the House and Senate over extension of the current federal transportation program continues and now might present additional problems for states and communities.  Last week, a familiar sounding one-month extension was adopted.  However, an effort to cancel a rescission of $8.7 billion in federal transportation dollars - as required by the current law - failed.   Unfortunately, both actions mean they'll have to extend the program again later this month and if the recission goes through, Michigan stands to lose $263 million, something that will surely put a stop to many state and local projects.  Why should anything be different in our nation's capital as it is here in Michigan.
