Last week, President Obama released his 2011 budget proposal.  Given the President's directive to freeze discretionary spending, the budget calls for level funding and even slight increases in most areas of interest to communities.  The League will be working with our Congressional delegation and partner organizations in Washington as we move forward.  Our March trip to DC for the National League of Cities Congressional Cities Conference will include stops at many offices to make sure the priorities of Michigan communities are on the table and at the top of the priority list.  Arnold Weinfeld is Director of Strategic Initiatives and Federal Affairs for the Michigan Municipal League.
