The 2011 budget deal struck between Congressional leaders and the President is now law.
The agreement cuts $39.9 billion, a $78.5 billion overall decrease from the President’s original 2011 budget request. Overall funding for the Community Development Block Grant is cut from $3.9 billion to $3.43 billion for the remainder of this year. That means a cut of $647 million will have to be managed over the remainder of the fiscal year.
Other programs of interest that were also cut include the Clean and Drinking Water Revolving funds, $997 million; COPS program, $296 million; Low-income heating assistance, $390 million; Community healthcare centers, $600 million; FEMA first-responder grants, $786 million; federal highway investment, $650 million.
Below are two links providing details on the cuts. The first is from the National League of Cities, the second from House Appropriations Committee staff.
