Last week Rep. Byrum hosted another in a series of workgroups discussing amending FOIA.  One of the important issues we're trying to insert for local units of government is to protect the FOIA exception that information cannot be requested under FOIA to use in court cases. There have been cases where parties have gone around that by having someone else request the information. Rep. Byrum has been helpful in inserting language to protect this exception although we're still haggling over details.
