The Federal Communications Commission has denied a petition filed by various national local government associations for reconsideration of their "shot clock" cell phone tower siting ruling from last fall.
The ruling set a deadline for municipalities to act on cell tower zoning requests -- 90 days for "collation" and 150 days for new towers. In its original ruling, the FCC rejected a industry request that applications be "deemed granted" if time imits are exceed and required industry to bring a municipality to court for failure to act.
The League will be working with the National League of Cities, NATOA, IMLA and other national local government associations to determine next steps. Further information and related documents are available at the following website.
