The Senate and House are both preparing to take testimony on Emergency Financial Managers (PA 72 of 1990) this week.  The Senate has scheduled a joint Local Government and Education committee meeting on Wednesday at 3 pm for discussion of the issue.  The House has posted a Local Government committee meeting where there will be a discussion on the issue, the Department of Treasury will testify, and there will be a presentation by Louis Schimmel, the City of Hamtramck Emergency Financial Manager from 2000-2006.  We also expect legislation to be introduced in the House either today or tomorrow, and are working closely with the House policy staff who has indicated a willingness to address concerns by the League. Once the bill is introduced, it will be posted on the League's Inside208 blog.
