The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DNRE) recently announced the public comment schedule for the upcoming rule change related to open burning of residential waste.  The public comment period will run from May 4 – Jun 4, 2010. Interested persons are invited to attend and present their views at any of the public hearings scheduled. Note that a one-hour public information session will immediately precede each hearing.   Anyone unable to attend a hearing may submit written comments by e-mail to DNRE‑AQD-RuleRevisionPublicComments@michigan.gov or by mail to DNRE, Air Quality Division, P.O. Box 30260, Lansing, Michigan 48909‑7760.  Written comments must be received by June 4, 2010.

Public Hearings Dates and Locations:

  • May 4, 2010, at 7:00 p.m., Northern Michigan University Center, Marquette Room, 1401 Presque Isle Avenue, Marquette.
  • May 6, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., G. Mennen Williams Building, Auditorium, 525 West Ottawa Street, Lansing. 
  • May 12, 2010, at 7:00 p.m., M-TEC at Kirtland-Gaylord, 60 Livingston Boulevard, Gaylord.
