As members of the Joint Select Super Committee on Deficit Reduction, Congressmen Dave Camp and Fred Upton of Michigan are working with ten others from the House and Senate to identify at least $1.5 trillion in savings to reduce the national deficit.
The Committee has until November 23rd to complete its task and if they do not, or if Congress fails to adopt those recommendations by December 23rd, $1.2 trillion in across the board cuts on non-defense and discretionary defense spending in Fiscal Year 2013. This would negatively impact many programs of importance to enhancing and maintaining quality of life in Michigan communities
That is why it is imperative for members to contact Congressmen Camp and Upton as well as your own congressional representative as soon as possible. Let them know of the value of the investments that have been made with federal dollars through programs such as CDBG, rural development, water and sewer grants and loans and a host of others. Let them know that we cannot simply cut our way to prosperity, we must also invest. deficit reduction committee letter.pdf (76.90 kb)
