Concerned About Meeting Matching Requirements?

For FYE2010, the city of Ypsilanti has appropriated $800,000 from reserves to cover the matching cost for major street repair.  This is 6% of our general fund expenses ($14 million).  Even though we appreciate the opportunity to collect federal funds for major street projects, a projected 8% drop in property tax revenues along an unknown further reduction in state shared revenue (already reduced from $4 million to $3 million) is placing burden and worry on Ypsilanti city council and the residents.  

I urge the state to consider funding mechanisms to ease the burden on local municpalities and maintain our current major road system, not expand it.
