The Department of Health and Human Services announced this week that grants are now available for the Children’s Health Insurance Program.  There will be $40 million available in this first round of funding. Grant awards will vary from $25,000 to $1 million.  All outreach funds will be released over a four-year period. They are looking for communities with high rates of eligible, but uninsured children, groups with strong relationships with their state health insurance programs, innovation through locally-based initiatives or use of technology to simplify the process and reduce “red-tape,” and results-orientated programs.
