It's back... I expect that the cancer presumption bill will be re-introduced today. The version I've seen is the same as the
version that passed the House last year. We had some concerns with that bill, including that it didn't apply only to active firefighters as written. We were told last session that the costs are negligible, so if that is the case, we think the state Workers Compensation system should pay for any increased costs relating to the bill. If that happens, we're out of the fight. The sponsor was lovely to meet with and was open to hearing our concerns. Without some amendments, the costs associated with writing workers comp policies in a required cancer presumption situation would be prohibitive. Is it Friday yet?
