This week, on the heels of the MPSC report issued last week, the Senate Energy Policy and Public Utilities Committee is holding a hearing on SB 190.  This bill is a re-introduction of last year's SB 637 which outlines a dispute resolution procedure as required by PA 480.  This bill has some problems, including a burdensome procedure that would make it difficult for local units of government to prevail in a case before the MPSC.  The bill also prescribes a separate procedure for cable that is entirely different for complaints about phone, which doesn't seem too efficient.  I'll be testifying at the hearing that we need some amendments to this bill, but I expect it will be pushed through relatively quickly because of the MPSC report. It makes for an interesting week.
