The Office of Site Remediation Enforcement (OSRE) had created a fact sheet (CERCLA Liability and Local Government Acquisitions Fact Sheet and Other Activities ) intended to be a resource for local governments concerned about incurring potential CERCLA liability as a result of their activities to facilitate cleanup and redevelopment of contaminated properties.  It summarizes relevant CERCLA provisions and requirements and identifies policy guidance and site-specific tools available to local governments.
