Fire protection grants have been preserved with a 15 percent cut in the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA - formerly DeLEG) budget conference report that passed this afternoon.

There was talk of elimination (and even an amendment that eliminated fire protection grants in the House), but contact by our members helped preserve a significant amount of this critical funding.

The budget maintains $9.2 million in funding for fire protection grants for distribution to eligible communities.

We expect the conference reports to be adopted by the full legislature later this week.
