With t minus 10 days until the start of the 2010 fiscal year, the legislature is still scrambling to reach agreements on budgets. The Speaker and Majority Leader signed an agreement last week with budget numbers, but we're hearing that some legislators are balking on some of those specific numbers. The conference committee for the General Government budget (that houses revenue sharing) was scheduled for 3 p.m. this afternoon, canceled and then rescheduled for tomorrow morning at 9:30.  Several budgets - Transportation, Dept of Human Services and Dept of Community Health - haven't even posted at all. There is an 18 hour notice requirement, so if the budgets are going to get done tomorrow, they'd need to be posted today.  You can see when the conference committees are posted by looking at the legislative website. All of Lansing is in a "hurry up and wait" pattern today after the House and Senate were both in session for less than an hour.  While my co-workers are in Kalamazoo at convention I've been going back and forth between our office and the Capitol trying to get as much information as possible. Looks like a long week. Remember to keep calling your legislators asking to vote against the proposed revenue sharing cut!
