Legislative leaders are nixing the idea of a government shutdown and contend that a budget will be completed by midnight on Wednesday in time for the beginning of the new fiscal year on Oct. 1.  Some conference committees met over the weekend, but session was canceled as negotiations continued. There is still no solid deal on the general government budget, and revenue sharing is still hanging off the edge of the cliff. The legislature took a break today for Yom Kippur, but the committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow morning so stay tuned.
