Thursday mornng at 9:00am, The House Local, Intergovernmental, and Regional Affairs committee will be taking testimony on HBs 4148-50 and HB 4538. These bills do a variety of things, including create a revolving fund and use water quality bond money to fund the revolving loan fund, for communities who used certain special assessments to build infrastructure that wasn't developed. There are a handful of townships in southeast Michigan who have expressed problems with this situation and are asking for the State to assist them in making their bond payments now that the land was never developed. The League opposses these bills and will be testifying on Thursday. If you have interest in testifying or communicating to your legislator on this issue, please contact Summer Minnick at sminnick@mml.org or (517) 908-0301.
