As another 20 provisions in the healthcare reform law get set to take effect in 2011, House Republicans pledge to seek a vote to repeal the new law.

The charge to repeal the law will be led by Michigan Congressman Fred Upton (St. Joseph) the new chair of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, which has jurisdiction over health issues.  Congressman Upton has vowed to have such a vote prior to the President's State of the Union address.

Of course a vote to repeal the healthcare reform legislation will be met with resistance by the Senate which is still controlled by Democrats.  Should the bill be met with such resistance, House Republicans have also said they will not provide funding for implementation of the law and pick out particular sections for repeal.

Polls show voters have mixed feelings about the law, but repeal was a cornerstone agenda item of those Republicans who were elected in 2010.
