As the federal stimulus bill moves through the Senate, changes are being made that now puts the total even higher than the House passed version. Senate Republicans and even some moderate Democrats are
expressing concerns with the legislation and President Obama and Senate Democratic leaders are striving to find a compromise. In the meantime, discussions I had last week with various Washington staff indicates this thing is a long way from a finished product. And once the Senate gets done, their changes will have to be negotiated with the House passed version. A
comparison of the Senate bill with the House passed version is available but again, this is preliminary. The old saying, "the devil's in the details" will hold so true for this package as everyone awaits how much will be available, for what and how it will be distributed.
