The Senate yesterday passed HB 4311, which contains supplemental funding for the 2009-10 fiscal year.  Senator Mike Prusi (D-Ishpeming) proposed an amendment that included restoration of $55 million for revenue sharing.  During debate, he said, "I believe now is the time and now is the opportunity to take care of some of the other priorities in Michigan.  If we support this amendment ... it's a restatement of our collective priorities."  Senator Ron Jelinek (R-Three Oaks) said that the state couldn’t afford the amendment. The amendment was defeated on straight-party lines, though, with Democrat Senators supporting it and Republicans opposing it.
