Tonight the League is hosting the 1,000 Nights Kickoff, an event for legislative staff to really showcase the economic element of having 1,000 nights of activities in a community. For those of you who have seen Dan's public policy presentation, he talks about how 1,000 nights works to attract millennials. The concept is that people are getting married later. They graduate from college at 22 and get married when they're 32. So in that ten years there needs to be something fun to do at least 2 nights a week (equal to 1,000 nights) or young people will move someplace where there are fun things to do. As part of our lobbying effort, the League is encouraging legislative staff to show us 1,000 nights of fun in the Lansing community. It kicks off tonight at
Tavern on the Square downtown. You can also check out our
"10 fun things to do in Lansing" countdown.
