Bill Requiring Locals Report Past Due Taxes on Tax Bills Successfully Amended

clock April 24, 2012 11:05 by author Nikki Brown

If you recall a few weeks ago, the League testified in opposition to SB 972, a bill that would require locals report past due tax amounts on each tax bill.  League staff worked closely with the sponsor’s office, Sen. Hildenbrand, to come up with a solution to the problem he was trying to fix.  The bill now says that once the tax bill is handed over to the County Treasurer, the tax bill sent out during that year by the locals needs to have a notice on it that there are delinquent taxes that have been turned over to the county with contact information for the county treasurer. No specific dollar amount is required; a simple statement that there are delinquent taxes and that is has been turned over to the county.

Thank you to Sen. Hildenbrand and his staff for working with us in this issue!

State Cell Tower Collocation Bill Passes Senate

clock April 24, 2012 10:52 by author Nikki Brown

The Senate unanimously passed SB 1064 today, a bill regarding collocation of wireless communications equipment on an existing tower.  While the League is still philosophically opposed to the legislation, we appreciate Sen. Kowall's willingness to work with us in addressing our concerns.  Attached below is a document containing the changes that were made to the legislation.  It now moves on to the House.
