Rally for Revenue Sharing: Chants Still Echo at the Capitol
NO-MORE-CUTS was the
chant billowing out from the Capitol Building steps this afternoon as a mass of community officials and public safety officers rallied for legislators and the governor to restore revenue sharing cuts.
Our timing could not have
been better! For legislators making their way into session, the cheering crowd near the Capitol entrance and the banner strung across the
steps, said it all: Public Safety First, Restore Revenue Sharing—our message was crystal clear. Thank you to all of the members that made the trip to Lansing today! We had 40-plus communities represented - You made the rally happen!
Lawmakers now know that if revenue sharing is not restored, local officials will make sure their constituents know who is behind public safety cuts.
We must continue to demand more from our lawmakers. Please continue urging them to restore revenue sharing cuts to this year's budget!
