Implementation of the Economic Recovery Act: The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act includes $ 3.2 billion in funding for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program. This new program provides federal grants to cities, counties, and states for innovative practices designed to achieve greater energy efficiency and lower energy usage. With local governments leading the innovation in the country in the areas of energy conservation and environmental protection, these grant resources will be an important tool in the furtherance of those efforts. City officials will learn up-to-date information on applying for these funds and key steps cities and towns can be taking to prepare for their use.
