State Budget Victory: 1-Percent Revenue Sharing Increase Passes House, Awaits Senate Action

3/26/2010 - The Michigan House of Representatives yesterday, March 24, passed the General Government Budget bill, which includes a 1-percent increase in revenue sharing for communities! House Bill 5880 now awaits Senate action which is not expected until lawmakers return April 13 from their spring recess. The bill passed 58-51. Click here for vote details.

Despite today's victory, keeping the increase intact as the bill moves through the Senate will be an uphill climb. Thank you for continuing to communicate the importance of revenue sharing with your lawmakers - your effort makes all the difference!

Until Now in 2010-11 Budget:
Before House action yesterday, the House Appropriations Committee on March 19 moved to restore revenue sharing in the General Government Budget with a 1-percent increase following testimony from the League and local officials (see Communities Score Victory on Revenue Sharing).
