Insurance
The insurance department provides long-term, stable, cost-effective insurance alternatives for members and associate members of the League. The department administers two statewide self insurance programs for groups: the Michigan Municipal League Liability andProperty Pool, and the Michigan Municipal League Workers’ Compensation Fund. It also administers the League-sponsored Blue Cross/Blue Shield Michigan group purchasing program.

Unemployment Fund Group Account
The League’s Unemployment Compensation Fund is a comprehensive solution for paying unemployment claims to the Unemployment Insurance Agency. This group account is a system whereby risk is shared, but not pooled, throughout the group members. The Fund allows members to enjoy the benefit of spreading claims costs over a longer period of time, and it removes some of the immediate risks and uncertainties related to unemployment.
