The League is leading
From detailed practical information on day-to-day issues to the most complex topics, the League provides opportunities for new and experienced officials to become experts in their profession, contribute to the conversation, and to problem solve like never before.
The League offers training programs throughout the state, including traditional offerings and programs on cutting-edge legislative hot topics. Many of our programs can be brought directly to your community as an on-site event. With a commitment to high-quality, lifelong learning, the League is an authorized provider of the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET), which allows us to provide Continuing Education Units (CEU) for all of our training programs.
Elected Officials Academy (EOA)
The EOA is a three-level recognition program that offers expanded educational and leadership opportunities for elected officials—mayors, presidents, councilmembers, commissioners, trustees, and elected administrative officials such as clerks and treasurers. All elected city and village officials and our urban township members are invited to participate.
This dynamic, must-attend convergence of national, state, and local municipal experts and community leaders is a meeting place where ideas are exchanged and relationships originate. It features pertinent keynote presenters, informative sessions, workshops, awards, and socially stimulating special events.
Capital Conference and Annual Expo
Capital Conference offers intense keynotes and in-depth presentations on the day’s hottest legislative topics for local officials serious about navigating the political landscape. The Annual Expo is attended by local elected officials and representatives from 100 companies servicing municipalities and offers an opportunity for officials to connect with their suppliers and consultants.
Each spring, the League invites local officials to plan seminars in each of Michigan’s seven regions to discuss issues of local importance, forge valuable relationships, and learn about the most current, critical topics affecting their region. At your regional seminar you will also have the opportunity to “race for the cup,” by taking part in the Community Excellence Award competition.
League staff members are available to visit your community to educate you about available League services and how to maximize your membership benefits.
