Today more than ever, local governments must find ways to reduce costs while improving services. Several communities have experienced lower costs and improved services through collaborating to share services with other jurisdictions, or eliminating a service or department and contracting with someone else to provide that service, i.e. a service consolidation. The Governor's EVIP (Economic Vitality Improvement Program) provides grants to assist with the extraordinary costs of consolidations and service sharing. As a participant in this session you will learn how other communities have benefited from these efforts, the steps taken to get to such agreements, and how to get started. You will also learn about EVIP and how it can help.
